Huub Hieltjes

Mayor municipality of Duiven

Huub Hieltjes is the mayor of the municipality of Duiven (population approximately 25,000). Around 2,400 businesses are located in Duiven, which has the largest contiguous industrial area in the eastern Netherlands (250 hectares). The municipality provides more jobs than its own workforce, with over 18,300 positions available. Huub Hieltjes is a member of the executive board of the Arnhem-Nijmegen Green Metropolitan Region, where he also chairs the regional program for business locations (RPW).

Previously, Huub held political roles in the provinces of South Holland (provincial council member), Brabant (executive of the Brabantse Delta Water Board), and Zeeland (acting mayor). He also held leadership positions at the Ministry of Finance and served as a director at NL Financial Investments (NLFI, which is a shareholder of ABN AMRO Bank N.V. and de Volksbank N.V.).
